Smart riders know the bike is just the start. At bare minimum you’ll also need the following items.
HELMET Your head is your most important asset. Find more detail on what to look for in items #40–43.
EYE PROTECTION A flying bug or a stone in
the eye will ruin your
day. Wear goggles or
make sure your helmet
has a face shield.
JACKET Leather is the traditional choice, but anything that offers warmth and abrasion/impact protection will do.
GLOVES Leather for protection and comfort. Some are also made with reinforced knuckle guards.
LONG PANTS Leather or textile for protection from wind and abrasion.
STURDY BOOTS OR SHOES A non-skid sole is essential. Solidly built for good support.
